Artist Statement:

The 12 Brothers by Brothers Grimm is a story about a young princess who accidentally turns her brothers into crows from a witch's curse. She was told she must not speak a sound for 7 years. Not even a laugh or each one of her brothers would die. If she can keep her vow of silence for all 7 years, then her brothers will turn human again. I found this story very endearing and wanted to draw this woman's love and burden. I wanted her to look ethereal as she visits her brothers in the trees.
